Hi, I am Audrey Robinson.
I hate these things. How do I define myself, if I am constantly changing? Also, do you even care? I once wrote a journal entry (and by journal entry, I mean note on my phone) about identifying myself by the bags I carry. I realized I can identify the parts of myself by the bags I keep:
- The Maddie bag -aka the mom part- an aqua backpack for all my child's snacks, extra clothes, utensils, quarters, wipes, crayons, sunglasses, etc.
- The work backpack- aka the play therapist and professor part- a black and white wide mouth backpack that holds my work keys, wallet (when I don't forget it in the Maddie bag) sunglasses, lunch bag, play therapy textbook, and workout clothes. By day, I am a play therapist for a school district and a counseling masters class or two for Texas A&M University-Commerce.
- Camera bag- aka photographer part- the black shoulder bag with my camera, lenses, speedlight, extra battery, and spring clamps attached to the strap. My dad is a director of photography (film and video), and he taught me about photography and a love of creative arts.
- Purse- aka the adult part- I rarely carry my black oversized shoulder bag, because I'm mostly in one of my other roles. On those rare kid free nights, I usually elect to Netflix and Chill instead of going out.
If you're still reading, wow, thanks. I really believe that people are more than the sum of their parts. I'm more than the bags I carry and the roles I fill. I love photography as a creative outlet, because it captures a piece of you and tells a story about the parts of our lives.
