Here and Now Photography

For me, there is so much meaning in this name. I pondered and crowd sourced opinions, and finally went with my gut. It might seem kitschy, but hear me out. I'm a counselor by training, and in counseling the concept of here and now is a force for change. It's about being grounded in the moment. It's about how all the past experiences come together and affect the present. Irving Yalom describes the here and now as "sharing the raw, honest thoughts and feelings about what's happening in the moment", and that is how I would describe my photography. I like to blend what I know of counseling and photography. No, I'm not going to therapize you, but I do like to get a feel for who you are, so the photos can reflect your here and now. I like a good portrait photo, and I love a real moment of connection. I love the real moments when something unexpected happens, or right after I tell a corny joke. I love chasing kids on playgrounds and capturing them in their element. I love sessions that involve walking through a park or hiking. I love to capture what makes you you, not just what you look like in your cute color coordinated outfits (I love that too).
